….. About Me
Hi! I’m Savannah.
Pleased to meet you!!:):)
I wear many hats: mom, birth and postpartum doula, placenta encapsulator, sleep coach, childbirth/lactation/newborn care educator, babywearing aficionado, chicken wrangler….
Let’s just say the days are long & the years are way too short :)
I’ve been a mother for more than 18 years, parenting six really awesome kids with my best friend of the last 21 years now… We met one day, hung out another, and we’ve been together ever since. We raise chickens and ducks for their eggs, and rabbits and turkeys for their meat on our little slice of country heaven in central North Carolina. .. We have always homeschooled our kids, and it’s really been one of the coolest experiences as a parent. 10/10 recommend.
I’ve been doing doula work since 2010, offering both in-person and virtual support for friends and clients via referrals/word of mouth. Whether lactation, birth, or sleep related, others have reached out to me for support, guidance, referrals, or step by step instructions on how to handle something. It has truly been a pleasure to share my knowledge and experience with people over the years, and my desire to support expectant/postpartum mothers and families has only grown stronger the longer I do this work and see how serious the need is for it.
I’m a major birth nerd, and have had 2 hospital births, and 4 freebirths. The transformation that happened within me between my hospital and unmedicated homebirths was MASSIVE, to say the least. It forever changed the way I view birth, and how medical professionals in this country treat women during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. It is because of my experiences and overwhelming desire to inform & empower others, that I became a doula.
I believe birth is one of the most normal, and natural processes the human body can experience. Women were designed to create, carry, and bring life into the world. The human body inherently knows and understands how to go through the process of birth- not only as the one giving birth, but also the one being birthed. This incredible, perfect design of the labor and delivery process should be honored and welcomed, instead of being met with misinformation, out of date procedures, and fear mongering.
My approach to pregnancy, labor and birth is holistic at its core. I encourage my clients to listen to their intuition, trust the natural physiological process as it unfolds, and use the evidence-based research to your benefit.
